This is one of the first leather masks I made, and I'm quite pleased with how it came out. I made it as part of a leather project exchange on the Leatherworker.net forum. Feel free to make your own from the pattern.
You did a great job. We went to a Art Festival in Dallas and got to see some cool masks. I am interested in making my first one. My husband is a Leather Craftsmen. He makes western crafts. Photo albums,Saddle repairs ect. Nothing as fun as this. Cynthia, Lewisville, TX
I am in the process of making this mask. I think the leather I'm using is too thick (5-6oz.), but it is turning out ok. I'll email you a pic of it when it is finished. I need to let the leather dry a bit more before I finish forming it. A note to any one making this mask: Wet the leather before you stitch it together, there is a tight squeeze in the corners of the eyes if you try to stitch it while dry. This is my first stitched mask. I have made riveted ones in the past but they were not wet formed like this one. Great mask, Tom! Thank you for sharing!
@db Yes, you are absolutely right about wetting the veg tan leather before stitching. I recommend a 4-5 oz weight leather for this mask. Glad to hear that someone finally made it. I posted this almost three years ago!
I love the mask! I'm starting my MMA career as the American Bulldog and I would love to use this mask, would you be interested in helping me out, I can plaster your name and site all over my shirts and website(when Built). Email me please at theamericanbulldogg@gmail. P.s. I will wear this mask every time I walk out to fight so please help a guy out, lol
